Here’s an interesting interview with Jane Espenson, former Firefly writer (Shindig) and current co-producer and writer for Battlestar Galactica (Razor). She has some interesting insights into the sci-fi and western sci-fi genres and what plot and character elements help these stories “break-out” from being appreciated by just us sci-fi nerds to develop a wider fan-base.
Great interview! She always comes across as just folks–very nice seeming.
Hey, I just got Heroes the first season from a friend for Christmas. Any interest in critiquing that? I don’t even really know what it is about. Have you seen it?
Heroes! Hmmm…I’ve only seen the pilot episode, and it didn’t exactly grab me. How about I use you as a test case? Can you watch a few episodes in to the first season and let me know if you think it would catch my fancy?
Yep, I’ll check it out and get back to you in about a week.
